hey there nikki!

so my new job is awesome. i have my own office and i am able to have these random breaks throughout the day. it's a pretty sweet hookup. the internet to my computer is pretty heavily monitored so i am able to access bloglines...but not direct links to blogs. oh well...can't win them all.

jasen is working on a new cd for lent. he is so motivated and driven...it is very excited to see him so passionate about a project. time is of the essence so he is working like mad. i have tried to give my thoughts and opinions, but it is more difficult then i thought, we went to the studio yesterday...and i was able to try it out...and soon find...i am not of the rockstar mindset. i couldn't seem to find the timing of the music...so i was unable to "help". we will see how it will all work out.

i wont hold my breath.

we sat down last night to "mind our finances". oh boy. we didn't want to get ahead of ourselves with our new income...so i am excited for us to maybe finally get ahead. we shall see. so nikki...i still don't know about march. i haven't forgotten you!

My big fat Greek employment.

Ha! I just got a new (unexpected) job! Check it out here...Annunciation Orthodox School.

It is very exciting for both Jasen and I...We are able to save a little more...and it takes a little bit of the worry away for the summer. Bottom line...it's a sweet hook up. Boo-ya.

Story goes...They called while we were in Nashville...and 2 interviews later...here i come. I will be working as a full-time substitute for reading support in the first-second grades. I start a week from today.

*social life update*

Jasen and I have been taking up as many opportunities we can to connect with others...from a 2 year olds birthday party...to a scrapbook party (not jasen just me). Now scrapbooking sounds lame...but it's cool to be making something while talking with people. anyway...

so i heard nikki is moving out here! sweet! nah...that is not confirmed reporting...but i figured if it were in print...she would be more obligated to do it. ha!

well hope all is well.

don't mind me...i don't have the cool stuff.

so my lack of posts are due to the fact...jasen posts about everything anyway. why would you want to see it twice?

well, enough feeling sorry for myself...here is the last 2 weeks from my point of view.

enjoy.

christmas isn't about snowmen...but i just love them anyway.

taking a break as we finish up decorating our tree. the couch...we sure are lazy.

i will take credit for any picture i think kicks it...and i took this one from our porch...

jasen and i were asked to light a candle for advent...my bangs were cut way to short. bummer.

here is jasen's new style. "after advent"

i got a sleep mask for christmas. just what i wanted.

i decided while we were in chicago that i didn't like myself in pictures...so here is jasen at the chicago river. sweet vest huh?

these 2 pictures are me fascinated with watching my breath. and yes i blew into my fingers like a cigarette. what a child.

jasen may take the credit for this photo. but i actually took it on one of our 12 times marching to the gaylord area from our hotel in nashville. sweet lord we walked 20 miles this trip.

yes...yes. the best for last. this was taken at the famous ryman theatre in nashville and it was the most amazing part if the trip. christy nockles (my favorite female singer of all time...even above maria taylor...now you know i am serious) her husband, matt redman and friends lead in ancient and modern hymns. my response...i sat stunned and completely moved. i could not sing. i could not stand. it had to have been the most connected moment i had felt to god and my those around me. todd proctor, paula, her super cool friend leroy and paula's sister and bro and law were there. it was really amazing to share that time with such a different combination of people. i wish i could have those moments always. i want to live life with that beauty. so perfectly versed and authentic. truly...an ordained moment.

diet new year tips...

please...stop shaking your head...you know you wanted to know this.

By John McGran (researched from opera's fitness trainer)

eDiets Tip: 5 Ways To Boost Your Metabolism

Strategy #1: Begin with Breakfast
Your body has gone without food for at least 8 hours - and it's starving. Skipping breakfast keeps your body in "starvation mode" and slows down your metabolism so you don't burn any needed calories. A morning meal revs up your metabolism and keeps your body burning fat all day.

Strategy #2: Stop Starving
Skipping meals and eating too little actually lowers your metabolism. Cutting too many calories puts you in a fasting state, which causes your body to hold on to fat and calories to survive. This drastically decreases your metabolism and makes it much harder for you to lose weight.

Strategy #3: Small Meals for a Big Boost
Eating smaller, more frequent meals provides a steady source of energy to your body, which boosts your metabolism and increases your energy throughout the day. By eating five to six small meals instead of three large ones, your body burns calories as you go, rather than storing the extra as fat.

Strategy #4: Burn Calories with Cardio
Cardiovascular exercise raises your metabolism and helps your body burn fat. Any exercise that gets your heart pumping, from aerobics to walking to vacuuming, gives you calorie-burning benefits that last all day.

Strategy #5: Muscle Matters
Muscle burns more calories than fat. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism gets and the more calories you burn, even at rest! Try to strength train two to three times a week. This is as easy as lifting light weights or even carrying groceries!
